Pūrlien Skincare

Description

Designed and developed while employed at David Riley Associates as a Graphic Designer. As Purlien, originally named Naturaliene, planned to expand their product line and reach, they wanted a more memorable brand. We were contracted to develop a new name and logo. We used natural colors and a mix of typefaces to develop a timeless brand. Their mark features a leaf and forms a subtle “P”.

Name Development / Logo

Our first recommendation to Naturaliene was to shorten their name. After researching various names, Purlien was determined, which combines “pure” with the owner’s last name “lien”. For the logo, we needed a flexible mark that would work in a variety of print applications and sizes. The lowercase serif-font is friendly and soft, while the logo is clean, simple, and easy to understand.

The Colors

For the main logo colors, we specified a warm grey and sage green to reinforce the natural skincare message. Our client strongly desired a bright and colorful brand so I determined a secondary color palette that they can use to differentiate their product lines. I also created an alternate gradient color logo for for digital applications.
